Assam
Tourism in Assam is essentially nature based; therefore, national parks, wild life sanctuaries, rivers, lakes, hot water springs and thick wooded forest and wildlife are the major components of tourist attractions in Assam. It is counted as one of the prime Eco tourism destinations in India. Eco tourism in Assam attracts a large number of nature lovers and animal lovers who love to see colourful wildlife in their natural habitat. There are five National Parks and eleven wildlife and bird sanctuaries for protection and preservation of wildlife in the state. Assam is often called "The land of Red River (the Brahmaputra is called Lohit in Assamese) and blue hills (the Eastern Himalayan range)". Assam is synonymous with breathtaking natural beauty, teeming wildlife, immaculate tea gardens and warm, beautiful people. It’s strategic location in the northeast of India, and it’s accessibility from the rest of the country makes it the gateway to the northeastern states.

  • Kaziranga National Park:

Kaziranga National Park has been declared a World Heritage Site. The park is spread over 430 sq. kms and you will find various wild species such as tiger, elephant, rhinoceros, Indian bison, sambar, deer and many more. If you love birds, you need to be here during winter as migratory birds are seen in great numbers. You could go round the park in a jeep or car. If you fancy elephant ride, you are most welcome. The nearest cities from Kaziranga National Park are Jorhat and Tezpur.
  • Manas National Park:

Lying down on the Himalaya foothills in the state of Assam, Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a striking wildlife habitat in India that adds in the beauty of its magnificent landscape. The park was also announced as a Natural World Heritage (in danger) Site by UNESCO. Not only this, it is also being named as Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve and Biosphere Reserve, as the park is fully occupied with large number of tigers, elephants and other fauna & flora species. It's a beautiful paradise on earth, always pampered by visitors due to its rich wildlife. Common wildlife species like the Golden Langur, Pygmy Hog, Hispid Hare, Assam Roofed Turtle, Wild Water Buffaloes, etc., are other main attractions of the park that draw many tourists from all over the world.
  • Jorhat:

Reckoned to be the Cultural Capital of Assam, Jorhat owes much to its history. It was the last capital of the Ahom Kingdom and thus has the last burial mounds of the empire. Today Jorhat has the largest Tea research station in the country and therefore it is now known as the Tea Capital of India. Jorhat is inhabited by people of different culture; thus every now and then the city is seen celebrating one festival or the other making it one of the most popular travel destinations in Assam.The main attractions of Jorhat include Bangal Pukhuri, Thengal Manor, Burigosain Devalaya, Purnananda Buragohain Maidam, Bilvesvar Siva Temple, Magolu Khat, Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar and Raja Maidam.
  • Dibrugarh:

Jatinga is a well, known hill stations of Assam state which has been covered by the high valleys. Jatinga hill stations is situated within the northern Cacher hill. Jatinga is famed for bird mystery. The drifting birds come during the month of August to November. And it is also the major attraction of Assam tourist spots. Through the eminent watch tower one can see them yielding to their death wish and their little plumage dropping down. During the night time Jatinga hill station gets covered under the fog, dark night and numbers of migratory birds.

The Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati is well connected by air to most of the metros in the country. Jet Airways, Indigo airlines, spice jet, Kingfisher red, and Jetlite airlines connect Guwahati to Delhi, Kolkata, and the major cities of India.
  • By Rail:
A convenient Indian Railways network runs through out the state connecting major Indian cities with Assam. There are train services from Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Trivandrum.
  • By Road:
A good network of National Highways and other roads connect Assam to all prime cities of India.

  1. North India has totally different culture than whole India.It is famous for its culture.I have visited Dibrugarh city of Assam last month .It was nice city i enjoyed its culture and lived that city.
    There i stayed in Hotel Rainbow Regis is one of the Hotel in Dibrugarh Assam.there i saw culture of Assam in Their food recopies, serving , hospitality etc.
